Carey Cathey Lessons & Clinics
“To me the most important roll is teacher,” Carey says with a smile when asked what drives him today. “I have devoted my life to learning about the horse, about successful approaches to horsemanship, both mental and physical, and I derive great pleasure from teaching my techniques and philosophy to both horse and rider.”
The relationship between horse and rider when properly experienced can be very enlightening. The horse is unique and very valuable to us in his incredible ability to read us and decipher in us our intents and purposes. This allows us unparalleled opportunities for growth in our own abilities in leadership, communication, equanimity, and most importantly our ability to accept and let go.
The horses mind is securely anchored in the moment, and we, as humans, tend to carry with us, bits of the past and future. Things such as: he spooked at that gate last time, or, I might fall off if he jump this creek. Both of those scenarios are interpreting the present with information from past or the future. And both lead the horse to believe there is something wrong in the present.
